While I'm still a long ways off toward building my O-200 let alone installing it, I was wondering if anyone's installed an air / oil separator in the breather line that originates at the right front of the engine?

I don't know how much the O-200 spits out over the course of its operation. My AeroVee in a prior project definitely needed one (and had one), but don't know how prevalent they are in our planes.  Cruzer for the record.

"For those of you tired of oil on the belly and don't want to go to the hassle and expense of installing an oil/air separator (such as the M20 unit), you could install an aerobatic breather elbow that was used in Cessna 150 Aerobats. Its is a standard brass elbow milled out to accept a steel tube which is then silver soldered into the elbow. The Continental part number for the aerobatic elbow is 633182 and the part number for the standard elbow is AN842-10 which is a standard part.

Beware that several years ago someone manufactured a number of bogus aerobatic elbows and you should obtain a known legal part, either removed from an aerobat engine or new from a Continental parts distributor."

I have a separator and the aerobatic elbow ( now standard part) still find stuff in can, information ive heard relates to making sure no fluid goes back in system.

I started out without a separator and had oil all over the bottom of the plane.  After I had to rebuild I added a separator and what a difference.  I have a good 80 hours on it and no oil anywhere.   I also use less oil.  Use to add a half quart every couple of flights and now I go 5 to 10 flights without adding. I also let it drain back into oil sump.  After research I made sure the vent hose was well insulated so it does not cool down.
