Hello fellow builders,

First off, I should say that I am not the first Scott Smith on this forum. To save any confusion, you can call me Pennsylvania Scott or just use my middle initial (P)

I am building a 701 that I adopted from a previous builder. Right now, I am assembling the right wing and in particular installing the gas tank.

I am not sure what kind of power I am going to be using.  I am keeping my eye out for deals on used engines (nothing but second best at my house)  If I can"tt find anyone giving away brand new 912s, and I need to go the new engine route, I believe it will be a Viking.

My question: since Viking (Honda) engines are fuel injected, don't I need to install a fuel return line?  Can I plumb that right back into just one tank and not both?  Don't all cars nowdays have their fuel pumps in the actual fuel tank?

I realize that these questions are probably answered in any engine installation manual that I will get, but I am trying to avoid going back into the wing skin when I go to run fuel lines

Check out the Viking web site. They have a fuel pump and small tank all set up to use. Duel electric pumps are in this Gal.? Tank with the return to this small tang. A very nice setup.

Thanks for the reply.  Five minutes after posting, I did see the video that Viking has out about their fuel system.  I should have realized that a header tank with a wet fuel pump would make the most sense.  Guess I shall set in place my finished tank tomorrow and maybe replace skin clecos with actual rivets

Scott... Be sure to check Viking's latest electrical system design. They continuously have fine tuned and improved reliability and redundancy. Hence the dual in-tank fuel pumps drawing very little power. And now a dual volt meter. See the diagram at the bottom of this link. There is a link to the related PDF for offline review.
