Hi, Folks;

For those who've already installed a GRT system (in this case Sport EX) with the SafeFly GPS / uAvionix ADS-B solution, how did you wire the interface between the two?

The uAvionix instruction shows a GRT implementation, but has the green, yellow, and blue connections from the combiner to the EFIS asterisked - don't connect the green, the yellow is only connected if you want the SafeFly GPS to feed the EFIS, and the blue wire is required for ADS-B & WX.

The SafeFly book from GRT has the same diagram with no asterisks or footnotes, implying that there's no option there.

Which implementation did you use? Regarding the yellow wire, GRT says you still need two GPS antennae - one for the EFIS and one for the SafeFly, so they're implying that the yellow wire does NOT feed GPS data to the EFIS.

Am I over-thinking this?

I also purchased the Sport EX, but am working on the wings now.  I am interested in what you find out.

As I understand both the EFIS and the ADS gear need a GPS source. I know the TN70 provides two RS232 outputs, one binary and one NMEA. One would feed to the mode S transponter and the second to the EFIS. This is just an example but I hope it helps.

Well, I received some great port-by-port wiring tips from GRT.

Yes, you need two gps antennae - one for the efis, one for the SafeFly GPS.

EFIS port 1 output to xpnder

EFIS port 1 input from the EIS

EFIS port 2 input yellow wire from uAvionix

EFIS port 2 output green wire from uAvionix

EFIS port 3 input blue wire from uAvionix
