Where is it located?
Does this 601 Already have an Air-worthy Certification? If it does please send me all the pictures you have(footlead7@gmail.com), if it doesn't how can a new owner get an airworthy certification without doing 49% of the build.
Thanks
Joe
You probably have been told already but, as long as 51% is done by amateurs, its good. You just need the logs showing it was completed by amateurs. any one of the builders can get the repairman's certificate, but only one.
Hey Richard
So let me see if I understand, 51% of the build must be completed by any amateur builder to get the Repairman's Certificate, for that specific aircraft, and 51% amateur built designates it as ELSA or EXPERIMENTAL, and a FAA certified Pilot must fly it a certain number of hours for an Airworthy Certification.
What am I missing.
Thanks
Joe
51% amateur built designates it as E/AB. Experimental / Amateur Built. You have to register it and have the FAA inspect it to get Special Airworthy Certificate. Then Phase one testing begins. FAA inspector decides the duration of phase 1. Usually 25 hours, plus 15 hours if using an automotive conversion engine. During phase 1, no passengers are allowed. Phase 1 is also limited to within 25NM of home airport. Phase one can be conducted be any pilot with experience in type.
Any one of the builders can apply for the repairman cert. That allows them the ability to sign off any maintenance or inspections.
