Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
Hi All,
On my last bird I installed wing trim so no matter how many lbs sat beside me I could trim the plane level and straight. Has anyone done this and if so did you use the flaperons or the rear of the wing for the trim tab. I know Vans has a manual spring system but I liked the servo way in my Europa I had. Has anyone done this and did it work? Is it even necessary with the Cruzer?

I have roll trim on my 801. I got an additional elevator trim tab and mounted it to the outboard left flaperon. The elevator trim on my circa 2002 801 kit was not integrated into the elevator; it was a separate trim tab. The flaperon trim tab is controlled with a Ray Allen servo, just like the elevator. It works.
Thanks for the info. If you have a chance could you send me a picture of the servo installation and the trim tab itself? I can't believe no one has done this on the 750? Oh well maybe its over kill but I sure used mine on my Europa every time I had a passenger.
It goes without saying, but remember to make a quick disconnect so that the flaperon can be removed in the future. My quick disconnect tucks up inside the wing under the access panel shown.
Thanks Dan!! Do you use this trim much when the plane's loaded differently?
I use it now and then. Mostly if I have burned off fuel on one side more than the other. I’d be OK without it, but it is nice to have and makes flying a little easier.
