Hi there, I’m hoping to pick up some advice on oil cooler installs for my recently purchased 801 powered by ECI io370. The cooler is a 7 fin exchange mounted in front of number 2 cylinder and clearly too small for the job. My thoughts are replacing the cooler with a larger unit in present location or mounting a 2nd unit on the firewall.
I would much appreciate any assistance from builder’s that have had the issue.

cheers

James

I worked through the same issues in phase one testing of my 801 with an IO-375.  The forward mounted oil cooler was not adequate for the heat produced by my engine.  I ended up with a firewall mounted cooler (airflow systems 2006x), with its own intake so as not to steal too much air away from CHT cooling. Bill Genevro at airflow systems is a wizard with this stuff, and was extremely helpful to me working through this.

hi James,

what kind of propeller you have on your IO 370 x ch 801? let me know please

Hi Jean,

sorry for the late reply. I have a Whirlwind GA200L-STOL . It’s carbon fibre ground adjustable 80 in.

cheers

James
