Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
I want to explain myself a little. I don't share my projects very well so I want to put it down here. Every plane can typically land in spots where it has NO chance of GETTING OUT. A 10 sec boost of Nitrous to get me to 40 mph quicker is all that I am after, esp at max gross weight. I installed a single fogger nozzle wet nitrous kit that is really very simple in execution and all total weighs approx 20#. There are changeable jets at the nozzle to make it very customizable. Nitrous is NOT magic, you are simply adding more oxygen and fuel at the manifold to get a bigger oxygen / fuel charge - at FULL throttle ONLY. I got a great deal on a NOS 05130 Kit and the installation was easy because the fuel comes from the primer port on my gascolator. I just had to weld and tap a bung to the manifold above the carb. My fuel pump puts out about 7 psi. Doing the calculations, a 018 fuel jet and a 022 nitrous jet should boost approx 20hp. I will post more performance info when I get the chance to play. When I reset my timing, I noted that my tach was sig off compared to the timing light at high RPM. This was confirmed by a laser tach and needs to be fixed. Mark

It will be very interesting to hear how things go for you. I read an article on WW about his testing with NOS a few years ago. When I asked him about this he said he has plans to do additional testing with NOS when he has time on a dyno to be able to publish the results. Please continue to share your experiences, good and bad. Good luck to you.
Do you have a constant speed Prop? If not won't the nitrous just over speed the prop? Just wondering????
From the Warp Drive Calculator: @20C
68" prop at 2800 rpm - tip speed at 0.74 Mach
68" prop at 3100 rpm - tip speed at 0.82 Mach
No problem.
What kind of tach do you have? Does it read low? I had to use magnets in the flywheel bolts to get an accurate tach reading with the WW pickup.
