Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
Hi Everyone,
I have been chasing down an oil canning sound in my 601. I have stiffened the bottom door (L Angle), added stiffeners to the sides like a 650, added stiffeners in the elevator. I flew again this morning and between 100 to 110 mph. I get the oil canning going on! Your thoughts are very appreciated!! Any ideal where the noise is coming from????? Is this just normal and something I have to live with? Thanks! Steve

in fuselage or wing? i only notice canning when flying close to the stall ( from buffet me thinks) in fuselage, no added diagonals in my earlier build 601xl . When the upgrade was done did the builder add the angle pieces spanwise in wings? i did do that
Yes, the “L” are there. The noise starts between 105-110 mph. So frustrating not being able to locate where it is coming from??? Have the L brackets in the side of fuselage, bottom of fuselage, in access door. Just can’t seem to locate where it is coming from???
a very early kit with thinner skin?
reading your posts about cracked prop hub, maybe airframe shake from engine at certain rpms, check engine mounts as well as the engine mount to airframe connection. Maybe try to have the prop/engine balanced?
Thanks!!
