Hi,

I am about to install my windshield, top glass, and door bubbles. I have peeled the sticky paper off as best I can, but there is a LOT of adhesive residue left behind. I am curious what others have used to remove the residue. I have searched the forums, but can’t find an answer. The common adhesive removers ( Goo Gone, Goof Off) are not recommended for acrylics. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Did you talk to the manufacturer?

Thanks.  Had no idea who made them.  Thank you for the info, I’ll give them a call.  I just thought maybe someone on the forum would have an idea.  Apparently not.

Try WD40 and let it sit overnight

Thanks. I’m trying to avoid petroleum based products.

Worked for me after I bought 2 new doors because of scratches by the first removing trial. Light heat might also help. Good luck. Been there, done that.

Thank
If anyone is interested, I called the manufacturer of the windshield. They recommended soaking with a rag with hot water and follow up with isopropyl alcohol. I tried both. The hot,wet towel didn’t really do much, so I started with lightly dipping a rag in the isopropyl alcohol. After I verified that the alcohol didn’t harm the acrylic, I soaked the rag with the alcohol (it’s cheap) and practically washed the glass with it. It worked GREAT! It took the adhesive residues and bits of left over paper cleanly off. I highly recommend using isopropyl alcohol for removing the adhesive residue from your windows. It was fast, cheap, and convenient. The person at the company also recommended a commercial cleaner (I don’t remember the name) but said it was very expensive. She told me that they use the isopropyl alcohol all of the time at the factory.
The commercial cleaner is called Super Cleaner, available at colorplus.com

Thanks Fred!
