Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
Hi, All;
I purchased the Zenith, optional, wheel fairings for my Cruzer. I'm finally getting around to installing them.
My Qualified Pilot (using the additional pilot program) felt they were not the most secure mounting because you could flex them around with only the 3 screws holding them to the wheel. (talking just the mains here...).
What are your opinions / do you fly with them this way / have you invented some other support brackets to provide greater rigidity?
Thanks for any insight...
Carl

My cruzer had issues with vibration of main wheel fairings. Fasteners would come loose due to vibration and I could hear shaking during landing. I welded a small plate on top of stirrup shaped bracket--100% improvement. Nice and sold, no shaking. I also used a fender washer with a rubber cushion under bolts. Sorry, I did not take a picture.
Sounds do-able. Any descriptive words on the size, shape, and location of your installed plate? Curved to fit the fairing, or just a flat plate? Where installed on the stirrup? Top/curve, or side on the flat part?
No photo, but I did make a sketch. The green bit is a light price of steel I brazed on.
That helps a lot, Jim; Thanks! Just to confirm - you didn’t need both top and bottom?
