The Jabiru FWF kit includes a choke kit.

I am trying to understand the function of the part marked in the attached photo...

Comments, anyone?

Maybe it's just my phone but I don't see a picture

Hello, Mike - there should be a link to "IMG_390 2.JPG" under the original post.

You have to follow the link to see the photo.

As I recall, that is used to capture the end of a control cable.  I assumed the cable is bent into a hook and lays in the recessed cavity.  The hollow pin secures it and the washers are retained with cotter pins.  To be honest, I never really understood how it would work, so I used cable end "B" nuts from Spruce for all my control cable terminations.

I might do just that...  Thanks for the comments, John

I found the answer, and in case somebody has the same question, here it is:

There is an assembly manual for the J160 (the aircraft) that details the engine installation: Jabiru-J160-Constructors-Manual.pdf

On page 242 there are details about the installation of cables. This diagram was copied from that page.

Thanks for posting that drawing ... you've solved one of the great mysteries of life!  ;>)

I prefer a "B" nut, however, since the cable length is easily adjusted -- once you bend that wire as in the drawing, it's not adjustable and you'd better get it right the first time!
