I have the ACK E-04 ELT and am mounting it in the same position as a few of the Cruzer forum guys (beside the belly hatch) but have a question as to the mount angle. The instructions say that the unit should be orientated longitudinally with no greater than 10 degree variation. As the mount is in the rear fuselage, it would have to be constructed with the forward mount bracket much higher than the rear to level the ELT in flight? This makes it more unstable in an impact and I don't see anyone else taking this into consideration. Anyone thoughts on this?

If I'm interpreting the installation instructions correctly,  Figure 1 in the installation manual says the longitudinal axis of the ELT must be within 10 degrees of the center line of the airplane.  It does not give a spec for inclination or angle relative to level flight, vertical axis, etc.  For helicopters (only) it says the unit is mounted at a 45 degree downward angle relative to vertical axis, but vertical axis is not mentioned in the airplane installation instructions.  If it can be mounted down 45 degrees in a helicopter, seems to me that lesser angles in an airplane would be OK.  If you contact them for clarification, let us know what they say!

I think you're correct. I had a discussion with the supplier and he did say that it should be orientated as close as is reasonable along the axis which "should" be close to the direction of flight but sees the issue with the angled fuselage. As a certified ELT tech, he wouldn't have an issue with the way we have it.
