Lycoming IO233

Posted on December 1, 2010 at 10:19pm 18 Comments

Have ordered an IO233 for $23K due in 60 days. Is anyone out there also going with this engine? Would like to share in the design of this installation.

Ron,

I got my IO-233 last week. It is bolted in now but there is a problem with the fuel pump.  the overboard orifice needs to be reclocked from the 7 o'clock position to the 4 o'clock position. I am waiting on Lycoming to get thie done.  Do you have any word on a ship date for your engine?

I thought that a Lycoming was not practiccal on the 750 so I haven't really looked at them.  Since I joined this forum I have noticed that there are several people working with a Lycoming engine.  What kind of flying weight do you expect?  Couldn't install a better engine but the weight has to be critical.  Thanks for your time.

Ron,

Looks like you live in a cool area.  Do you fly your 701 off Bass Lake?

Ron,

Would like to discuss your IO-233 installations plans.  I have a fuel system schematic and am considering the best boost pump to use in this installation.

I had my plane almost done when I went to Oskosh and learned about the Edition 2 750.  I spent the next 2 months upgrading my plane to Edition 2.  That was hard to disassemble and complete that, but I am glad I did.  I have a Zenith supplied engine mount (installed) which is dynafocal and a Zenith supplied cowl.  If you would like the fuel system schematic, let me know.
