Ron, I fully agree. Having the plane on floats really opens up a new world. We do not have many airfields and our forest based landscape does not provide many nature-made airstrips. Fields are rarely smooth enough for aircrafts for safe operation. The floats are in practice the only way to get yourself outside official airfields.
Amphibian floats are nice but they're heavy. Officially they convert a 2-seater into a single-seater.
