Yes the pump could go there as well.  Better yet would be to put the fuel pumps in the engine compartment and eliminate any pressurized lines running through the fuselage.  I have a header tank however so I am gravity feeding my carburetor.

Could the pump have gone into the center wing portion, instead of the wing itself?
