Twas the night before Christmas 47 years past

There were hushed voices in the Houston MCC,

All were deliberate and none too fast

I sat at my console next the rest of the Flight Dynamics Team

There on the front row which we affectionately called the Trench

As I sat there studying things like propellant loads, number of jetts for ullage to settle the fuel, etc.,

I formulated the crew’s way home

I then gave my inputs to the computer operator 2 floors below…

A MOST EXCELLENT ADVENTURE  by: Chuck Deiterich

A while back, my friend and former leader, Gene Kranz, gave a speech to the folks at Kingsville Naval Air Station.  As a result, he was invited to tour an aircraft carrier.  Not only that, he could also bring along some friends, of which, I was one.  Humbly, I must admit, we were considered distinguished visitors.

At first, I thought we would fly commercial to a navy base and board a docked…

I wanted to thank you for your stool article in Kitplanes. I needed to come up with a colapsable stool to get my wife who has severe RA onto the wing of our 650. Now I don't have to reinvent the wheel so to speak. Thanks again. Rich Rost

I would have liked to meet you. I keep my plane at TPL (Temple). I am slowly working on a strip at a place I have in Falls Co. between Durango and Lott. I looked at the Sonex that flew in.

My place is 12 miles west of Harper on Hwy 290. I'm slowly working on a dirt strip that will be completed about the time the airplane is. With any luck I should be able to get a barn/hangar built also. The strip will start out at 500' depending upon how the flight testing goes (I can clear it on out to 1200' if I need to).

Hi Chuck - Bob Turner here. I dropped by your place about 3 years ago just as I was retiring and moving to the hill country. The new home is built and the 701 started in the garage. One of these days I'll give you a call and hopefully drop in to your strip and let you take a look at my project. Thanks for sharing your experience.
