I am 78 yo in Elkhart In come fly with me in my 1997 HDS with over 1600 hrs on it Wendell (Ray) Ridenour
Hey John,
Not to start anything, but if you keep that project as a nosewheel airplane I would consider another engine besides the corvair. It comes out heavy and does not have good low speed thrust for the weight. We just had a local guy break the nosegear on his corvair powered HDS. By the time you get everything FWF installed, you will not have saved much over a used 80hp 912ul and that installation will fly much better because it is so much lighter and has a geared down prop. FWIW, Mark
congrats on the move. I am building almost the same project as you. I am building an HDS tail tragger with a corvair 2700 engine. I have flown in the XL and HDS and both fly nicely. Enjoy the building process.
