I am 78 yo in Elkhart In come fly with me in my 1997 HDS with over 1600 hrs on it Wendell (Ray) Ridenour
Not to start anything, but if you keep that project as a nosewheel airplane I would consider another engine besides the corvair. It comes out heavy and does not have good low speed thrust for the weight. We just had a local guy break the nosegear on his corvair powered HDS. By the time you get everything FWF installed, you will not have saved much over a used 80hp 912ul and that installation will fly much better because it is so much lighter and has a geared down prop. congrats on the move. I am building almost the same project as you. I am building an HDS tail tragger with a corvair 2700 engine. I have flown in the XL and HDS and both fly nicely. Enjoy the building process.
