Thanks, Michael. Hope to see yours soon.
Hi Michael! Thanks for getting in touch. Here's a timeline for my CH750 project: Started with the Rudder Workshop. Liked I and ordered slats, flaperons, stab and elevator. These went together without a hitch. Ordered wings and started building them. Heard rumors that Zenith might stop producing float kits. (later turned out that administration of the float business changed, but production did not). Ordered basic float kit which was a little more than raw materials. Upon inventory, found about 30 parts missing. Worried about the availability of any overlooked missing parts, started building floats. Zenith Canada made good on all missing parts, no problems. Zenith Missouri quality control for the plane parts is excellent. Completed floats, returned to and completed wings. Ordered fuselage kit and started build. Was racing clock at the time as it appeared, from various inquiries, that it is difficult , if not impossible to obtain affordable insurance for a floatplane if you are not actively flying one as you pass 70 years old. So enlisted some "builders assistance" which proved to be a disaster. Many mistakes and poor workmanship. Terminated builder assist and tried to repair and bring workmanship up to par. Took fuselage in an enclosed 24 foot utility trailer to Florida for Jan to assist in installing a Viking engine..again fighting the clock. While transporting the fuselage in the trailer, for reasons unknown to me, one side of the forward cabin in the vicinity of the landing gear (it was on landing gear during transport) buckled. So, frustrated with the patch-up job and additional repair work required, I terminated working on the fuselage and ordered another kit and started building a second fuselage. Went together much faster and better than the first due to experience. Currently at the point of installing the instruments . Plane is in a hangar in San Antonio. Overall kit quality and support from Zenith very good, highly recommended. Viking support very good also. No major hurdles during construction process. Hope to finish plane in 5-6 months barring any unforeseen distractions. Frank
