Two of my exhaust flanges are too pitted and warped to be repaired, and after pricing stubs on ACS ($89.75 ) and also bare flanges ($13.50) I started looking around to see what I could use. Being a…Continue

Hey Rodger I have put a hold on my build because we bought property in Pine Hollow and I am working on getting it ready to build a shop and a house but once I get all moved over here I will get back on it. I would love to see your build. If you want to call me 503-348-7907 Thanks

Another thing we have in common... You used to be a Porsche mechanic, and I drive a Porsche! I've got a pristine 986 Boxster, and I'm on the lookout for a 997 Carrera S Coupe sometime in the not too distant future...

Hi Roger:
Glad to hear that you are building a CH-701! I am embarrassed to admit that I never got past the rudder on my 701 project. I did that part in a workshop out at the zenith plant in the previous millennium. In the meantime, life got in the way and I wound up being busy with a zillion other things and never got back to it.
Now however, I am about to order a full STOL CH750 kit and go to work on it this year. I'll initially be building it up in Everett, Washington, where I'm working right now. But I still have my little place in Enterprise (right below the airport!) and another in Heppner. So I am looking forward to getting back to Eastern Oregon before long, and some doing some fine bush piloting in my favorite part of the state.

Small world.
Roger... Maupin is great. I spent a summer at the Carver Ranch there, shooting a movie, "Purple Mind." That's what I used to do. Now I'm a Zenith builder, stuck waiiting for my finishing kit to ship. Fuselage, wings, HS & VS done. Just did overhaul on a Great Plains VW Type 4 I picked up from an EAA guy in our group, but feels like I'm standing still. Sounds ideal with your 1,000 foot home strip. Not sure where or when I'll hangar my plane. Trying to do as much as possible in the garage before trailering my whole shop to a hangar - perhaps Sandy River Airpark. We'll have to do a meetup once the weather takes a turn for the better.
Cheers
Hi Roger. I'm a year into building my 701. Glad to learn there's another 701 somewhere here in Oregon. I'm in Gresham, just east of Portland. Belong to EAA 902 out of Mulino near Canby. Check in if you're anywhere in the area.
Best,

The 701 is a great plane and I enjoyed building it and now, flying in it. If you have any questions, let me know and I will try and help.
I went to the factory build school and thought it was pretty good - - however, it didn't teach me enough about taking rivets out!

Roger,
I am not an owner/builder at this time. I am still stuck on the Zenith/Kitfox fence! I am, however, pretty darn close by at the Northern end of Sherman County between Rufus and Wasco. Congratulations on taking the plunge! If you happen to find yourself in need of any free labor, give me a call. I am worth every penny...
Take care and have fun,
Jon Ramos
