Recovering from Oshkosh 2012

It is hard to believe that it is nearly one month since the annual pilgrimage of the faithful came to an end.   We are all back in Ghana, and busy getting ready to start 4 more girls from the bushlands on a 4 year programme of learning to fly, build and maintain aircraft, run an airfield and use a computer...as well as drive a tractor and a truck!  …

Article Reprint: Safety Is No Accident: Zenith’s aircraft are high-utility contenders. So how’s their record?

The following article was published a few years ago in Kitplanes magazine.  While all of us may not agree with all of the author's observations, it's shared here to help Zenith builders, owners and pilots increase their awareness of safety issues in operating their homebuilt kit plane.  We invite you to share your comments below.

STOL Banner Towing

Here's a nice series of photos showing a unique banner towing arrangement from this STOL CH 701 light sport utility plane in Guadeloupe in the Caribbean:

Wagner HVLP Control Spray Plus Paint System

Here is my new Wagner HVLP Paint Spayer System.  Great Spray Gun - can be used with all kinds of paint such as Waterborne Epoxy Primers, and Waterborne Polyurethane etc.  There are some pretty expensive systems out there... but this was to good to pass up!   Paid $75US from Gleam Paints.  Runs off of 110V and feather light.   Princess Auto had one for $130 from China and it just could not compare to the Wagner.  I had a Wagner electric spray gun back in the 80's and it was one super…

Suggestions for New Workshops to be held?

As most of you know, American Light Sport Aircrafters have been holding a Tail Section Workshop which runs in conjunction with the Zenith Rudder Worksop each month here at our facility in Mexico, MO.

Each month I am asked if we have considered doing others so it became clear that there are literally hundreds of subjects concerning kit building that could be covered in…

Turbine Zenith 701 flew over 1200 miles

The Turbine Zenith 701 (742DE) flew over 1200 miles at 300’ over Lake Livingston last week in an attempt to locate a lost fisherman. We unfortunately did not save a life this time but I was sure impressed with the utility of the 701 to perform this type of search. It was gratifying to be able to help and I would recommend that all of you that have 701/750 consider letting local law enforcement know if you have time to volunteer.

Testing the waters

I'v been thinking of building a plane for years and just bought the plans for a 701 and have spent more time printing every thing out ,and trying to decide what to build and what to buy ? well the rudder kit sayes it takes about 12 hours and testing the waters with junk I had laying around from scratch I built a 100%mockup of the rudder in less time then the 12 hr for the kit and this included cuting the forming blocks and fabercating the part's assembly was the shortist time (note) this is…

Around Ghana, West Africa in a CH701 - in 3 days

It just has to be done. As we try to raise awareness of the ability laden CH7xx and CH8xx range of aircraft for humanitarian aviation logistics, it is now time to undertake a mission that appears to have never been done before.

On November the 1st to 3rd Patricia Mawuli, the 22 year old girl from the bush in Africa who has learned to build and fly airplanes, will take 9G-ZAF, the Medicine on the Move CH701 around Ghana to prove the metal of the T6 aircraft. For a low hours…
