As mine and Robert Broadwells Rotax powered 750 project nears completion. I was wondering how many out there are flying with the 912S?
Thanks Bill

Bill,
My guess is that most people who can afford the high cost of the engine, will most probably seriously consider the 100 HP Rotax 912. As you mentioned previously the weight/power combo is very hard to beat, however one must not forget that is not necessarily the major concern of all the 750 builders. You must also consider the fact that a lot of builders can't afford the cost of a complete kit, much less the high cost of the engine, and must resort to building from a set of plans in order to achieve their goals of owning, and flying a CH-750, .
Case in point myself. I purchased the very first retail set of plans for the 750 on the opening day of AirVenture in 2009 and after a visit to Aircraft Spruce in Toronto, I had spent a total of 3,500$ for all the necessary aluminum to build the plane, along with another 1500$ ( I'm ole school ) for the basic gauges. At this point I now had everything I needed to complete the aircraft, less the engine.
So my question is this Bill, how can anyone expect a builder on a pension, or a family man on a budget, to come up with an additional 25,000.00$ just to be able to hang a 100 HP Rotax on the front of their aircraft.
Bill, it all comes down to who can afford to install a Rotax 912, and not necessarily how many would like to, or choose to do so.
Good luck with your 750.
regards
Robert

I do not think you can beat the combo-light weight- swing a big prop with the gear box-lots of get up and go, no cooling problems. My partner has had one other planes in the past with the 912 and currently has two other planes with the 912. There are also three other 912s at our airport and no one has ever had any problems.
We also have the MGL Odyssey with the MGL radio

I am definitely planning to install a 912 ULS on my plans build 750. It sounds like at least 3 others out of the 6 are planning on 912 S's and possibly all 6 of us might go that way. We still have lots of time. We are probably a year or more from buying engines and then who knows how long before first flights.
Most of us are also planning to install MGL Odyssey panels with the MGL radio. I currently have a MGL Stratomaster Extreme in UL and it works great. We will really be watching you guys closely to see how like your combination if equipment.
Regards
Joe
i would like to know that also, i have one im working on that planning to have a 912s in it .
My CH750 C-IKIM is flying with the Rotax 912S. I have 75 trouble free, turn key and go flying hours on a 2000 hr TBO engine.
I know Conrad Watters is just now painting his CH750 with Rotax 912S engine. He also built his CH750 at Can-Zac under the Power Build program. Started in December 2010.
