Me too, Norm. Just got a notice from the new FAA airworthiness cert portal that my application was "accepted". Also noted that my DAR acted on it. It appears that this new procedure might actually accelerate the whole process...we'll see. Hope to get inspection before Christmas.....Bill
Looking forward to being your wing man when we both come out of hibernation this spring.
Thanks, Wayne, all paperwork is filed with FAA. No word from DAR yet when inspection will take place. I'm in no hurry...temps here swing negative on a regular basis and I have a newly overhauled engine to break in.
Congratulations Bill, be proud of your accomplishments and enjoy your plane. Not everyone can do what you have done. I envy your determination and accomplishments it a great milestone.
Thanks, Clint, I'll be sure to post the results.
Bob and Dave,
Thanks for the encouragement. I'm anxious for that certificate and first flight, but must hold off until temps here warm up a bit. Minus 20 F this morning. I gotta break in a newly overhauled engine.....so,....what is one more delay? Its tough having to be that patient!
Thanks, Jimmy, I'm "churching up" my builder's log with appropriate pictures while I await the inspection. I'll post the outcome when it happens. On the SW senders, I think I got the arms bent in an optimum shape for accuracy. When empty tanks (dipped) gages indicate empty while float is not quite touching bottom of tank. When fuel is just touching the bottom of filler neck, gage indicates one or two needle widths from full. That works for me. Only issue is what appears to be friction resistance between the slider on the arm and the coiled rheostat (resister) mechanism of the new device. The arm and float are not quite heavy enough to overcome the friction until the fuel sloshes around enough. John Austin tells me he had a similar occurrence with his SW senders also but they "loosened up" after normal vibrations and shakes during ground and flight ops. I'm glad I installed the SW gear.
Congratulations, keep us posted!
On another note: How are your SW fuel senders working out with regards to accuracy?
