Drilled the horizontal stabilizer brackets uo to the size. The bracket had pilot size holes. I used a strap duplicator.
Aligned the horizontal stabilizer.
The overlap between the stabilizer and the brackes is so small I did not dare to drill immediately. Will ask Zenith.
My hardware does not match the drawings I have. It looks like my horizontal stabilizer is older than the drawings. The drawings say the front spar attachment bracket C75T2-1 is installed between C75F2-5 and C75F2-7. But my front spar attachment bracket has an angular shape and cannot go between. The older drawings I have say the front spar attachment bracket should go inside. It works fine. I just wanted to inform you about the drawing inconsistency.
There is a small gap between the front spar attachment bracket and C75F2-5. Please see the picture empenage.5.jpg. As far as I understand it is rather common. When drilling I will add some shims to fill the gap. The question is what should I do when tightening the bolt? Do I ignore the gap? Do I put one or two standard washers to fill the gap? Do I use the shims I used for drilling?
Another question I have is about the rear spar attachment bracket. Since the rear spar attachment bracket C75T2-3 has a curvature the overlap of the parts C75T2-3 and C75F2-6 is narrow. Please see the pictures empenage.3.jpg and empenage.4.jpg. What should I do? Do I just drill a hole in the middle of the overlapping or do I bend the lip of the part C75F2-6 a bit to increase the overlapping?
Zenith answer - it is good enough. Use shims and leave them when bolting.
