The new 750 nosegear fork requires a modified mounting plate on the strut that has a slot for towbar. Zenith sells a simple, light towbar that works fine when you're actually towing the plane! However, if you get those big, fat tires on a surface where they can really get a grip and try to acutely turn the nosewheel, the towbar will bend in the slot - you need to keep the tire rolling to avoid this.

I just stuck my completed, painted fuselage in my hangar and have been maneuvering it quite a bit as there are two other planes in the hangar. Getting frustrated with trying to avoid bending the towbar, I looked around the shop and found a steel square-tube handle off a defunct backpack garden sprayer (like all good builders, I'm a pack-rat!). I cut the sharp ends off a "mini pry bar" and bolted it to the handle ... voila! - an industrial strength towbar! (The pry bar is tempered, so it shouldn't bend so easily as the Zenith tow bar.)

To try to really make it classy, I covered the connecting end with shrink-wrap - that lasted for about five seconds of maneuvering the plane.

This towbar should be ideal for hangar use - I think I'll carry the Zenith bar in the plane if traveling since it is so light.

Try some tool handle plastic dip on the tip... maybe it will last longer!
