Hi,

this concerns my JAb 3300 on a Zodiac 601 XLB.

any advice as to how to lower the engine noise? the first 30 to 40 hrs it was really quiet but lately even with earphones the sound is very loud.

It seems as if there is some leakage between headers and muffler. any ideas  for some sealing of the gap?

Thanks in advance

Ditto Jeff's remarks! Don't bother with muffler sealants, etc., as they will not hold up! I installed the CAMit stainless steel header/muffler seals and they really seal well. The way they're designed, they should continue to "bed-in" and seal even better as time goes on.

I'm not sure how much a leaky header/muffler joint will contribute to overall noise, however ... I've always thought the Jab 3300 is a relatively quiet engine - it definitely is the smoothest-running engine out there! However, my STOL 750 has firewall and cabin insulation and I suspect that helps greatly - especially insulating the cabin floor since the exhaust exits exits under there.

I've always had Bose ANR headsets that really work well - pricey, but there are lots of competitors at lower price points.

Thanks a lot for your interest and advice

I will look into the CAMIT seals right away.

Happy flying!!!!!
