Does anyone have the bungee cord install tool they no longer need (like after installing a steel bungee)?

After fighting the bungee , I went with the idem below.....

Very happy with it and very easy to install.

I would love to do this but can't afford $400. I heard a rumor Zenith may be working on there own version of the steel bungee. If they do, I'm hoping it may be a little cheaper. 

Simply use a 1/2" drive ratchet wrench. I would love to charge $400 for it but most tool boxes have one in stock. Insert the 1/2" drive end in the round pipe the tube that the bungee loops over. Slip the bungee over the rear bungee mount pipe (bracket) and then over the end of the ratchet handle. Simply raise the ratchet handle and it will slide down the handle over the mounting pipe (bracket). Nothing to it "Bob's Your Uncle"

I tried this but my O-235 engine, magnetos, wiring and primer tubing will not allow me to rotate the ratchet in either direction. I would have had to pull a magneto, and disassemble a whole bunch of wiring to use this method and - I wasn't going there.

It may not be applicable with your O-235, but in some cases you can use a ratchet with a joint ("flex handle") to allow you to clear some obstructions.

Have you ever replaced the bungee? What would be the easiest way to remove old and add a new one?

I have one of those tools but don’t use it much anymore. I remove my front strut and fork assembly every year during my annual condition inspection anyway, so that means removing the lower bearing. Then when it’s time to replace the old “endless shock ring bungee” with the new one (or reinstall the old one), I get the bungee started by placing it against the firewall behind the bungee pin, about half above and half below the pin, then slide the front strut and fork assembly partially into position (my wheel is removed from the fork at this time too), capturing the bungee on the strut at both back and front attachment points, then push up and guide the top of the strut into the upper bearing until the front strut is in place and ready for lower bearing installation.  Install the lower bearing and done, the bungee is already in place. I’ve also noticed once a new bungee has been stretched into position, I can pry it off the front strut attachment point- and back on again- by hand as long as the aircraft tail is lowered and the nose gear strut is resting on the stops.
