Saw a utube on 801 upgrades where the builder had the standard gear rebent 2 degrees for each side and effectively straighten the legs. Looks good in the video. Anybody know where and who can bend this thick gear? Thanks, Bill

I had my Cruzer gear straightened a few weeks ago at the Zenith factory after a hard landing. Took the bare gear in and they fixed it while I went to lunch. I scheduled a date in advance with Roger when the press operator would be available.

Thanks Steven. Mex Mo is a long way from here(mid Ga). Anyplace in the southeast? Bill

once the cold bent gear is rebent it will distort easier the second time , my advise is to contact Rob at grove gear and get a heat tempered and bent spring and be done with it BOB

I assume you were watching the video of one of the Patey boys 801. He stated that he thought that Zenith was now bending their gear the extra 2 degrees so you may want to verify if this has already been done to your gear legs since that video is now about 8 years old. That being said anyone with a heavy enough press and fixturing to support the gear leg and match the bend radius should be able to sucessfully bend the gear.  Some may want to upgrade to a Grove gear, some may not. There is no absolute right or wrong way. Do what you think is best for you. Dan
