Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
We've recently had a marked increase in the number of ads being placed in the Open and Type-Specific Forums! The Open and Type-Specific (701, 750, Cruzer, 750 SD, 801, 601/650) Forums are for discussions about building and flying Zenith Aircraft, not ads. Obviously, "ads" are posts offering something for sale, but also "ads" include posts such as "looking for" and "want to buy."
The reason ads are not allowed in the Zenith discussion forums is that they tend to generate more responses such as asking price, requests for photos, location/shipping information, etc. Each time an ad is placed or responded to, it "pushes down" active discussions on that page ... if enough ads were placed and responded to, there might not even be any aircraft discussions on the first page of a forum!
Ads should be placed in the Classified/For Sale postings. On any page of these forums, if you'll look in the right-hand column, you'll see a box beneath "NEW FROM ZENITH" with two links: Zenith Planes for Sale and Classified listing. Clicking either of those links will take you directly to the Classified/For Sale postings.
Originally, we had a link to the Classifeds in the drop-down menu of the forums. We had to delete that when we ran out of tabs (links) when we added the engine forums. The "link shortage" has now been resolved (thanks, Sebastien!) and I have requested Sebastien add a link to the Classifeds in the forum menu as we had before. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Zenith has been very busy adapting and responding to the problems this has caused and forum maintenance is a lower priority. Please be patient and I'm sure he'll add it back eventually. However, as previously mentioned, there are no less than 2 hard links to the Classifieds on every page.
One exception to ads in the discussion forums is that it is allowed in the Engine Forums. These forums tend to be less-utilized and ads there have not been a problem (although we encourage placing engine-related ads in the Classifieds - you'll have far greater exposure to potential buyers). In the future, if the volume of engine ads becomes a problem, we would then start requiring placement in the Classifieds.
While I have your attention, this would be a good time for everyone to review the Member Rules. The Member Rules can always be accessed through the drop-down menu "Info & FAQ" in the top right of any page on this forum.
Thanks for your cooperation and active participation in the forums!

Efe - Wow, that was quick! Thanks for taking care of that for us! Hopefully, this will make it even easier to choose the "Classifieds" rather than the Open and Type-Specific Forums when placing an ad.

This one has massive abuse...
Therefore, we require you to use your real name and a profile photo of yourself.
I agree, Kenneth! From time to time, I've asked members to read and review the Member Rules, and two of those are to post under your actual name and provide a profile photo of yourself. However, for whatever reason, many choose to ignore these rules and post under some nick-name and have a photo of a dog, cartoon, airplane, etc.
I for one find it very useful to have seen the member's name and photo. I've met so many of our members at fly-ins such as the Zenith Homecoming and often I can associate their name and face very quickly with their participation in the Forums since they post under their actual name and provided a picture.
I would encourage everyone to stop for a moment, read and review the Member Rules, and then hopefully comply with them. Using your actual name and photo will be appreciated and enhance our Zenith community experience!
