Do I need to run a flex tube line between the air filter located in the engine compartment to the Static port on the ECU?

Scott,

Recommended in the install manual to optimize engine performance...

Thanks, I wish they would show it in the install documents.

How did you mount the tube to the air filter?  Photo?

Hello, I would like to know how this installation can be done and if anyone has a photo of it. thank you

the flex line is to run to a static air source either its own with a filter (or not) or use your pitot static system. The filter is meant to be something to keep particles or insects out. Don’t source your air from the engine compartment as the heat will “thin” the air and the computer will think you are much higher than you are. And the intake air filter on the engine would be worst as it sucks air (warm) at accelerated speed thus very low pressure sensing to computer thinking you are much higher than you are and will adjust the fuel mixture very lean

I can see your logic however ULPower recommends the ECU static source is to be as close to the air filter as possible so it can meter the fuel and timing to the exact parameters of what the engine is actually receiving / experiencing - temperature, density etc. What is the environment under the cowl? Locating the ECU static tube in any other location does not help with engine performance. The ECU wants the air temperature and density that is arriving at the fuel injectors.

Thanks for the clarification - I will make adjustments to my aircraft.
