You won't be happy with that engine... it can't produce the thrust thats needed to fly the 701. That engine needs a reduction drive to turn a larger prop to produce the required thrust! Check out Great Plains Aircraft for a 1.60 reduction drive!

Thomas - I have to second what Ron wrote. If you want the scoop on VW power for the 701 contact Wayne Clagg of this site.
But no matter what you do it's a thrill to build (and fly too). I have about 90 hours (flying time) on my plans built 701. Best of luck.
