I was planning on going to the Engine Class. Is is worth the cost of the class, travel, hotel, etc?
I'll let you know on Dec 5th if the class was worth the cost. The travel and hotel will definitely be worth it for me since I only live 30 minutes away. LOL!
I did the class several years ago when it was conducted by Pete Krotje and Jabiru USA. If I recall correctly, Nick Otterback of Arion Aircraft (the present North American Jabiru distributor and repair facility) helped conduct the class. So, since now Nick and Arion are offering the class, I assume the format and quality of information will be similar to what I experienced.
I found it to be extremely valuable - it was a hands-on class with a lot of deep-dives into the engine's internals and also the Bing carb - a fairly complex piece of work all by itself! You'll learn how to do maintenance tasks and gain a better understanding of avoiding or recognizing problems, should they present. If this class is anything similar, I'd highly recommend it.

Thank you both for reply. I am sending in my registration today for the class in Dec 3-4. Arion said they may even have my FWF kit (or at least part of it) available for me to pick up then.
I have a Generation-1 3300 that is still in the crate, so I am sure there are some other things I am going to need to do with the engine compared to a Gen4. I am building a big tires Cruzer and I am getting close to being ready to hang the engine, so this will be timely.

You may already be way ahead of me on this, but since you have a Gen 1, prior to the seminar I'd check with Arion on what updates or mods are recommended by Jabiru and bring the engine with me if coming to the seminar by ground transportation and leave the engine with them if mods are necessary.

I was thinking the same thing. I talked to Nick in the past and wasn't recommending I did any of the updates with the Gen 1 engine, however I will give him a call again next week and confirm and bring the engine with me if it makes sense.

So that makes two of us, and they need 10 for the class to take place. Hopefully others are signing up. I've been waiting for this for a while.
They did get the required minimum of 10 class members. The class is actually full, so I'll see Roland and whoever else signed up, at the class.
