Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
Hi all,
I've looked at some past posts on this topic but wanted to get a few more facts and ideas.
My CH750 STOL kit will be delivered at end of Jan/early Feb. Date is TBD. My understanding is that the Kit Crate is 14'x4' and up to 1000 lbs. It will be delivered by Estes Express freight. I am told that they do not take the crate off the truck and that I'll need a way to do it.
A couple questions and hopefully pictures if you can share what you did.
Anyways, your pictures, options, and suggestions are welcome. Apologies for a new post on likely an old topic. Thanks!

I arranged to pick up my kit at the shipping depot. They loaded it on my utility trailer for me.
This may save you the cost of home delivery.
If you have, or can borrow, a trailer, I suggest you do what Ron did. Estes has a terminal not far from you in Eighty Four, PA. I imagine that's where it will go. Parkersburg OH is another option, but further away. Once you get it on the ground you won't be moving it without a forklift or pallet jack, unless you have a lot of really strong friends on hand. I just unpacked mine right from on top of the trailer in front of my workshop. It only took a couple of hours, and most of that time was spent trying to figure out what to do with all the packing materials. You'd have to call Estes and see if this is possible though. I picked my kit up at the factory. You're free to borrow my trailer if you want to drive to Tennessee to get it. LOL!
Mine came in a box truck with no tailgate. The box is too long to use one anyway.
I called a tow truck to take it from the delivery truck. The driver was able to get it in my garage. Timing was easy to manage, tow trucks are always called when they are needed, never in advance, so it was something like a 15 minutes delay.
If you chose to use a forklift make sure to have extra long forks as the box will be long. For my 701 it was 12 feet long.
The first thing to do when you receive the box is to empty it to make sure all the parts are there and in good condition so as long as the tow truck can put it close to your garage you should not have to move it.

I built my table before the kit arrived. the top came off the table and unloaded the parts onto the bottom two shelves under the removed top. It took two days to check every part in and put the parts away. I cant stress this enough, leave the parts on top that your gonna work on first. I spent half my time looking for parts, I'll be so happy when all parts are in and done, and I get some of my garage back.
