Look forward to the visit and I'll give you a call once I am back in the right time zone. Flat black paint holds up better. I used black carpet in another airplane and will not do that agian just holds too much dirt and stuff and hard to clean. Flat black you wipe it down. Corvair should give you good performance. What kind of bike do you have? Mike
hi, it was actually a rebuild project that i bought. i had to nearly rebuild both wings and do some fuse repair work. it had a jab 85 hp engine and flew great!!
Joe it was nice meeting you and your wife at 12 Oaks. Thanks again for the instrument panel edgeing it looks great. Hope you post of few of the pictures so I can see them. Take care and look forward to seeing you 2 at the 12 Oaks Fly-in the last weekend in Feb. Mike
Joe. I decided on the corvair engine after follow the matronics list. I bought a couple of engine here locally. I spent time on Williams web site and ordered his book and DVD's . I used a local machine shop for the work on the heads and block. I have ordered parts via the Web from William Wynne and some from other builders. I had never spoken to William except at this year open Hanger Day at Zenith. I picked up some parts there. I also have a bought most oft the engine parts from Clarks. I hear that William is hard to get on the phone but I have used email in most of my communications to him and also other builders who can answer questions.

Hi Joe,
Your seat covers look great. But due to funds lacking after all the little things they don't tell you about I guess I will have to wait or try something myself. Ha?
Mechanical I may be but anything else----well, we'll see.
Hope to see ya at S&F.
Hi Joseph, with the exception of the tip of the port slat, the wings are serviceable but I am in Hertfordshire, UK.
The plane first flew in 2003 and has done less than 200 hours.

Plane build by Charlie Schnitzlein of Leesburg. It is a very nice plane but he had three in-flight engine failures with the Rotax 618. I bought an already converted Suzuki engine with Raven redrive. I expect it to arrive today. Once the engine mount arrives from Raven I will begin installation.
Joseph, I have ordered books, small parts like the flywheel and starter gear. picked up oil pan at last years open house at Zenith. I rebuild my engine myself and had the heads done at a local machine shop I have used for years. With William it depends on his Corvair College schedule wish it wasn't so but he's mostly into teaching and research than day to day of running a business. I soon have to order Intake and exhaust manifolds or try to make myself. I built my own alternator and starter brackets but I'm not into welding. I am into my 2nd year this month. I am waiting till Zenith incorperates the upgrade in to the Wing Kit. Floyd
Because of obvious liability issues I cannot tell you that this chute can be put into a 701. All I can say is that it was in a 701 (older model), it has harnesses that fit the 701 and I have some instructions that show how to mount it in a 701. You will have to gross weight your plane and make the decision. I was going to mount it in my plane but did not want to sacrifice the space. I don't know I might be making the wrong decision but I made it. Its for sale.
Thanks for the response on my lights. The $200 is only 1/2 of what they cost new since they are the double flash units. However, I guess I would split the difference and sell for $175 plus shipping.
Terry
Right now Joe, I think the Jabiru 2200. When I look at all the additional things a Rotax requires, it makes the Jabiru look simple by comparison. Plus when I took my demo ride, that was Mark's recommendation.
What have you installed, and what engine instrumentation are you using?
Best,
Joe
Joe,
The magazine underneath allows just a little "give" when you rub across the crease to sort of push it back. Start out very light. Then keep looking at it as you push slightly harder until you see results. Don't push too hard or you'll make a bulge in the other direction. It won't go away 100% but you can make a significant improvement!
Joe
Hi Joseph - nice engine installation. Noticed that you repainted your valve covers (as did I). In my case I had to repaint mine after I welded the breather and oil return and oil filler tubes on.
Ok Joseph (pardon me for misspelling your name in the former comment, it was the Belgian version) I might have misinterpreted the picture. Now I am still puzzled about the 3 degrees nose up. Could you give me some information on that too?
I saw the image you posted of your "isolater" and was wondering how it is used. It looks like it is near the floor in the cockpit. Is it part of your electrical system?
Hi Joseph, Thanks for replying to my post. I have found a WW engine with about 25 hr on it. I considered an aeromax till I read about some problems with sone of them, and some comments about dealing with Bill Clapp. Sounded like William was the way to go. Thanks. Best of luck. Ralph
HI joe, I read Some of the heads were done wrong and could't be repaired. All so the company is out of busines and some suppliers never got thier money. The website has been taken down. Get your engine checked out . Hope you didn't get one of the bad ones. Ralph

Yes I am building the 750. At first I wanted to put a bushing for the cable to run over, but then I discarded that idea. I just want the cable to go directly without any friction on the cable. So when I extended the hole to do that the cable contacted the stabilizer front spar 75T-4. But now I need to put some doublers in and see what I can do about this cable. Do you happen to have the part number for the fairing doubler? Dave
I used a 4" PVC coupler cut in half, it has an I.D. of 4-1/2".
The coupler is bonded to the lower half of the cowling, with the top half slipping down over it. I hope it has enough opening, may have to enlarge it later.
Yup, I'm still here. Lots of good info comes floating through. I'm installing another completely different Corvair engine now. What can I help you with? Gurney flap?
I'm still around. Lots of good info passes through. I'm installing another completely different Corvair in my 601XLB now. Lots of work. What Gurney flap question do you have?
I just cut out a hole I liked and made some smoked Lexan to fit and riveted in, sealing it with silicone. I made a plywood form to the curvature of the turtleneck where the windows fit and glued some aluminum foil over it. Set the plastic on top of it and put it in the oven at 250°. Sat there and watched it carefully until it took the shape. Pulled it out and let it cool. Both sides came out perfect the first time but I've done some similar windows and lens before and I was prepared to do it over until they did. Here's the pictures I have:
I'm 25 miles from Williston. I go to the restaurant there occasionally. I can meet you there some time.
AS to the heavy left wing. You need to check the rigging first. Level the airplane. Measure all the flying surfaces to determine anything out of rig. There is old article on the EAA website on how to measure and fix these problems. I wouldn't even attempt to modify the airplane until after doing both of these.
I'm also flying a corvair. It has had some teething issues, but I think everything is running smooth now. Looking forward to some longer flights where I can get more settled.
Joe, I have 3 sets two 701 zenith 3 point and one set czaw 701 4 point , I dont know if they fit 601 how long do lap and shoilder belts need to be ... $100 per set..BOB
Joe , it’s Jeff Herman here, you asked about the wheel pants on my 601. The photo is from the previous owner. I had him remove them for me before I bought it last October because I like grass strip fields. I have not installed them yet for myself , so I cannot answer your question. I keep them on a shelf and can take measurements if you need me to
Joseph, I see you have a Franklin 235 install and wanted your opinion of it. I now have that engine with all firewall forward and thinking about a Cruzer install.

Hi Joe,
I've been working on this 750 kit for the past two years, but progress has been slow due to limited time available, so I am going to sell the project.
We live on Shady Airport which is just south of Ocala along I-75. Stop by anytime and please fly that beautiful new 701 in here when it is finished.
