hi Richard my name is ron Zielke and am building a 750. I have a couple of questions,  what did you do to your metal to prep it? How many coats did you end up installing?  Now that you have been flying it , how's it standing up?  You have probably answered these questions a hundred times.  My biggest challenge is I'm 80 in reasonably good health, and the build has been really rewarding.

The inspection was easy. The man from Pittsburgh FSDO was very nice and did a very thorough job. He helped where he could with the paperwork.
He did mention the letter from the NTSB and gave me a copy. He also noted in his psperwork that I have that copy.
I do not have the piano hinges.
In all he was here about two hours. I suspect that it would have been about half of that if we had limited our conversation, and we had not had several visitors show up during the inspection.

Richard,
Will you be bringing your plane to Cloverdale this weekend? I am very interested in the paint and was looking to do something similar. I am also going with a Corvair. If you have time maybe I could talk to you during the fly in. Delete Comment

Hi Richard- Thanks for your reply. I'm not ready for paint yet but wanted your opinions. Only 2-3 quarts. Sounds like it goes a long way. What about polishing compound instead of sanding?

... with the added benefits that it's tough as nails, readily available, and dirt cheap.

Hi Rich,

It's nothing exotic ... just 3/4" heater hose from Pep Boys split and fit over the edge. I never liked the result of my efforts to burnish the middle top skin edge over the front bow. It always looke "home made" instead of hand made to me. I haven't glued it because it doesn't seem to need it.
