Is anyone planning to build an airplane profile for new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020? I would be glad to assist if someone has the expertise.

Cruzer owners with Viking 130 or 150 engines and successful installations?

Posted on January 30, 2017 at 8:19pm 4 Comments

I am very near pulling the trigger about an engine purchase. THE QB fuse is now starting to be finished. All of the other components are almost finished. I am having an anxiety attack. ?(should I ground myself)

I was initially planning on UL 350 IS but now I am contemplating a Viking 130 or 150. Is there anyone out there that could help me. I would appreciate your insight.

Leak testing using Air instead of gas for tank

Posted on January 18, 2017 at 7:25am 0 Comments

I was able to leak test the installed pilot gas tank with air saving a great deal of grief.

I capped vent tube with rubber cap and clamp, pressure gauge in fuel line and air hose in fuel return line.

The gas cap was sealed with double sheet of saran wrap.

The pressure was 2-3 PSI and the tank was installed and gas tank skin was clecoed closed.

It was much easier than disassembly and bench testing with gas.

The tank needed to be installed for this…

Cradle plans for Two wings?

Does anyone have plans for a cradle for two wings while I finish the fuselage? I am a kit builder since I do not have the capability of independent building or construction.

Hi Dr. Terry,

I am just curious if you were able to get a little smaller size tundra tire or how you got one a little narrower?  I have been flying my stol 750 since a year ago in May with 120 hours on it and my front tire rubs on both sides, mostly in cross wind landings,  Higher air pressure seems to help a little.  Doesn’t really bother me much, just isn’t right.

Thanks,

Robert in Kansas

Humbling is an understatement, but educational is also true. Every time I finish something I realize that I could have done it faster/cheaper/better!  Looks like you are getting very close to 1st flight on your project. Right now I am working on the cabin doors. I have the new version, and the plans/photo guide is let's say lacking... Did you build your with the new style doors? If so, do you happen to know what the rivet pitch is that holds the bubble around the frame?

Dr. Terry.  My cell is 830 258-3527.  Give me a call about any time between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m.  I would be glad to talk about the 701 or the 110 Viking.

I belong to Chpt 277, meetings at SI airport at C'dale.  But, the real fun is the lunches we have every Tue & Thur at Marion.  Great group of guys and a lot of experience there.  Builders of several different types.  I'm sure Clark told you about it.

I will get with you to see your progress (I've been following it here) in person.  Going to get my next kit pieces from Mexico soon.

Hello.  I live a few miles east of Johnston City.  Retired 10 yrs ago from the VA Med Cntr in Marion as a Budget Analyst.  I did the rudder class a year ago (Nov 15) and have only built the horiz stab and elevator.  I hope to get another kit section and work on it this winter.

I have joined the local (Marion Carbondale) EAA, and we meet for an informal lunch Tues & Thurs at KMWA at the FBO.  Some experienced builders in that group.
