A small step for me...

Hi there,

Nice to meet you all.  I recently got my 801 tail kit and got a working bench ready, little bit tight but better than nothing. I'm looking forward to the build.  My motivation is once it is complete and (hopefully) it flies, I will get a feeling of what Wright Brothers felt!

Little warning for the forum though, I'm a complete newbie, so there will be lots of questions from me :)

Looking forward to meeting you at a future…

Rudder kit arrival

It begins. The CH750 rudder kit arrived yesterday and today I ordered some additional tools (clecos, handi-clamps, drill bits, etc) from Spruce and Amazon. Now to restore order to the assembly room.

Propellers for Zenith aircraft and Valdez STOL for Zenith Super Duty

I have seen a bunch of spinners but nothing like the quality from DUC.  Yes, they talk funny and we make fun of them when the price of copper is low (Statue of liberty on Ebay) but the French got these propellers done right.  We all know carbon fiber is strong.  Now take that concept to the airliner quality and you end up with slightly more expensive, but far superior…

Wing root nose skin

Having a problem getting a tight fit of the wing root nose skin 75W5-6 against the rib. Any suggestions?

Not bad for 6.5 hours of work

I started the day by alodining the rudder skeleton. First time using Alumiprep 33 and Alodine 1201, small learning curve. Once that was done I rivited the skeleton and started skinning it. I got one side almost done, just the tip rib remains. I had a few issues with my compressor and that took about an hour to fix. Still having fun building airplane parts.

Getting Restarted

I just started my new kit last weekend, just drilling and fitting the rudder skeleton. Decided that I would alodine everything before priming since I now live in the beach. Had to order the Alumiprep and alodine, they arrived yesterday, so I am looking forward to making good progress this weekend.

First Flight of my corvair powered CH650

Hi Builders & fliers

This is a video that a good friend made of the first flight of my 650. It is powered by 2850cc 110hp covair. I have 23 hours on the plane now and have no problems. The link is https://vimeo.com/231398395 and the password is tallyho.

STOL 750 - 500 hrs!

I accumulated this over 5 years and 4 months.  Annuals have been non-events for the airframe - finally had to install new brake pads during my recent annual and that's about it for parts over 5 years!  At about 100 hrs I did replace the 800 series tires with 600 series, but that was just personal preference.  They look like they'll be good for one more…
