Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
I accumulated this over 5 years and 4 months. Annuals have been non-events for the airframe - finally had to install new brake pads during my recent annual and that's about it for parts over 5 years! At about 100 hrs I did replace the 800 series tires with 600 series, but that was just personal preference. They look like they'll be good for one more…

Aside from the changes that come with the Super Duty (SD) design (i.e. longer wing, higher GW, larger engine options, 3rd seat, etc...) what else would you like to see in an "SD Cruzer" that the current Cruzer does not have?

I finally got the opportunity to do an adventure I had often thought of; a flight past the many volcanic mountain peaks on the west coast.
I had flown to Washington to visit my brother, who also owns a 601XLB. After a week in the rainy northwest it was time to return home to Santa Rosa, CA. When planning the flight home, I noticed the weather would be…

In the past few years I have had in mind to fly all the way to the tip of South America. I…

ContinueToday, November 21, is Chris' 78th birthday. While most of you know Chris or are familiar with him and his work, I know many new Zenith builders and owners are not as familiar (since his retirement about six years ago) so below I am sharing an article written by aviation writer and friend Jim Cavanaugh in 2011 for the "Zeniths to Oshkosh" celebrations honoring Chris Heintz at EAA AirVenture.…

FedEx had “reweighed” the 877 pound crate as 415 pounds, and then loaded 450 pounds of freight on top of a box clearly marked FRAGILE in letters six inches high. I didn’t take the end off this crate; this is…
