Power Drop

Folks,I have a head scratcher type puzzle. On climb out my 350i occasionally has an unscheduled power drop of around a hundred rpm. Not every time, just occasionally. In static tests on the ground it is a brief drop then climbs back up. Like in flight, not every time. Static rpm is around 2600 to 2650 at current prop pitch.Ideas on how to troubleshoot? Checked gasolators, they were clean. Small leak on hose fitting, turned out to be on a return line, not likely source of air in lines. Fuel…See More

Oil Leak Front Main

Having a heck of a time with an oil leak. Front main seal seeps just enough to be vexing. Oil film builds up on right side of windscreen bad enough to require washing every couple of hours. Replaced it once and am willing to do it again if I can figure out what to do differently this time to make it stay sealed. I applied oil to the seal (or crank) when I installed it. Anybody know of any other tricks to helping these seals stay sealed?RalphN750RPSee More

Front Seal Replacement

I am working on the ramp 7 flight hours from my hanger/shop. Have an irritating oil leak from my front seal (350i) and am scheming to replace the seal. Have a new seal on hand and have down time due to weather. The biggest challenge appears to be finding a simple method to lock crank to allow removal/install of prop flange bolt. Specs call for torque value of 300Nm. That’s 221 ft pounds.  And yes, I am too cheap to buy the special tool from Wick’s for a one time use. Ray discouraged me from…See More

Engine Compartment/Firewall Temps

I am currently remodeling, thus not flying, my Cruzer and am thinking of changing up to a lithium battery. Currently have battery mounted on engine side of firewall. Lithium batteries do not like high temps. Does anyone know what the engine compartment/firewall temperatures run in a Cruzer? I have a UL engine.RalphN750RPSee More

I highly recommend a OptiMATE Lithium 4s 9.5A TM-275 Battery Charger with Select & TUNE ECU Flash, you can work on your plane with the power switch turn-on with out pulling on the battery, Also a standard battery car charger will not top-off the battery's.

(If you forget to turn off the master power switch ((pilots never forget to do that, LOL)) it will not kill the battery, it has a auto-off function to prevent from damaging the battery.
