JabiruXL WOT and assorted performance numbers

Weather finally cooperated and was able to do some flight testing with the new oil cooler assembly. Now that temps are under control, I can push the airplane. Using a Sensenich wood W64ZK-51 cruise prop.

WOT, 3,140 rpm, 143mph, 130knots, 6,370'. Oil temp 177F, hottest CHT 275F. My EGT's continue to run hot, hmm.

That run was after I had leveled off. Next…

Zodiac CH 650 B Updates

I purchased my plans which are dated Aug, 9, 2010.

I would like to know if there are any updates/changes/etc. as I am now finally ready to begin construction of some parts (mainly the vert/horz tail section).

How do I get any updates to my plans?

7 weeks into 750 build project at Cloverdale

Working 7 days a week for 7 weeks I am ready to move the project to Alaska to install the engine and instruments.  After 7 weeks of working with Doug at Quality Sport Planes I am very pleased with his positive attitude, fantastic abilities, and great personality.  He is always upbeat and has a fix for every mistake that I make.  I certainly made the correct call when I decided to work on the plane here.  The quality of people that are regulars around the hanger is outstanding.  I have made…

Website problem

Is anyone out there experiencing problem with the Zenith Aero website? For about 10 days now I cannot download the posted photos or videos.  Links to these features from my e-mail also won't work.  Internet Explorer automatically brings up the message "Internet Explorer has stopped trying to restore this website.  It appears the website continues to have a problem." I have sent two messages to Zenith.Aero and they have not responded.

Zodie Rocket performs low pass at high mach number

Hi everyone,

Thought you might enjoy this picture of a high speed pass at one of the local flyins.  This was after a recent changeover to retract gear, supercharging, and a few other speed enhancing secrets.  I guess I just didn't realize what the Zodie Rocket is capable of with its tapered HDS wing and slippery aerodynamics.  Fortunate for me, I'd read Chuck Yeagers book and instinctively knew to use the trim tabs after the main controls began to loose…

XL seat bottom modification

I've wanted to change the seat bottom 6B18-6 from a curved piece to an angle so my two piece seat cushions would fit better. It would also allow for the use of a booster cushion under the seats if necessary.

Thought about using a hinge after cutting the seat bottom in two pieces, but the solution was much easier. On my XL the distance to the top of the rear gear channel is 147mm. After removing the seat bottom, I noticed the the midpoint on the curve was 140mm. The co-pilot seat…

127 Children flown at Kpong - over half flown in CH701's

Despite being cut short due to bad weather, we flew 127 children on Saturday, as part of our annual fly-me day at Kpong.  It is all part of a complex health education programme and the children are from rural communities - and it is a great life changing motivator.  Many of the children have never experienced electricity in their homes, let alone tap water, some may never have slept inside a building with windows... these are the same youngsters that we be in our sights as future aircraft…

Finally Started the Build

My wife and I took the 11hr car ride from Michigan to Mexico to attend the rudder building workshop and pick up the tail kit and also a tool kit. I have to say it was a great experience. The entire group from Zenith was more than helpful. Except maybe that engine guy :) (just a joke) great people and a great experience. We gained a lot of confidence in the build of the project after finishing our rudder. Now the wife and I are in the process of converting 1/2 of our family room into a…

Rudder Completion

Took advantage of a beautiful March Saturday to complete my 750 rudder. Today, I drilled and cleco'd the nose skin, trimmed the excess aluminum, disassembled everything, primed the contact areas, re-cleco'd and riveted the whole thing together. Now I need to save a few pennies and purchase the tail kit. But that can't happen until after I pay my taxes!!

Rotax 912 going fuel injected

I saw an article on AOPA that said Rotax was starting production of the 912iS model which is fuel injected.  I looked around on the web for additional information but found nothing.  Anyone got any information as far as specifications and pricing?
