using Bluetooth Headset to make Recordings In Flight

Before I spend a grand on a bluetooth headset, I thought I'd ask if anyone has had any experience with this strategy.  I am in the beginning of Phase I with my 750 and am trying to determine how to…Continue

Zero Oil Pressure on Newly Overhauled 0200A

Not being a "mechanic", I need some advice.  I just finished installing a freshly major overhauled O200A on my 750.  I filled the oil tank.  When I checked for oil pressure before performing the…Continue

using Bluetooth Headset to make Recordings In Flight

Before I spend a grand on a bluetooth headset, I thought I'd ask if anyone has had any experience with this strategy.  I am in the beginning of Phase I with my 750 and am trying to determine how to use a voice recorder to document the changes in performance as I change other parameters during flight.  The old school method is using paper and pencil to keep notes while doing the flying.  It seems to me to be safer if I could figure out how to speak into the mike and record what I need as I fly.…See More

Fluctuating Airspeed Indicator

I made my first flight in my CH750 STOL on Sunday and all went well.  However, while returning to home base, I decided to see what airspeed I could attain with my Continental O200A at 2500 rpm.  At 2500 feet PA, I attained 95 MPH and shortly thereafter the airspeed indicator began to irraticlly fluctuate plus and minus 10 MPH.  Vertical velocity was fluctuating plus or minus 50 feet per minute and altimeter was noticeable fluctuating a very small amount.  I saw that the pitot tube  (small…See More

Posted Photo Mis-Orientation

At least two of us recently are having trouble posting photos properly on our "My Page".  It seems that for some reason recently, using the same camera and computer, my posted phots show up 90 degrees from upright.  The webmaster has provided a "rotation" function recently and a link to "save" the changes.  However, when the edited photo reappears on "My Page", the photo remains 90 degrees off center counter clockwise. This problem for me started to show up after a recent revision to the Zenith…See More

It's been a few years so I do not recall the exact geometry I used.  I believe it is different than the VDO sender bends.  I ended up making a cardboard mock up of the fuel tanks shape and adjusting the geometry accordingly.

Bill. I mounted the SW senders in the sides of my fuel tanks.  I had to come up with the geometry through some trial and error but generally they work fine.

Yes, I did a test on the bench with all my components with everything it relative height positions and again with everything installed in the fuselage. I was concerned about how well the fuel would flow through the electric Facet fuel pump with it not powered, but it was just fine.

Bill, I have an electric fuel pump installed on my Continental O-200A equipped CH750 STOL. I only use it when flying at high angles of attack (during stall maneuvers). Don’t really use it for any other normal flight conditions.

Bill,

I have an O-200 powered 750 with an engine driven fuel pump.  Lack of an electric fuel pump has not been an issue.

Hi Bill -

Joe Reheiser here.  I now recall where we were stationed together.  You were my first squadron commander, of the 345 TAS at Yokota AB, Japan.  Those were great years!  I had the good fortune to return to Yokota much later in my career as the 5AF/CV and flew the Herk.  They were H models at that time, and they are now converting or have already converted to the J model.

All the best,

Joe

Hi Bill -

Yes, I was in the USAF (31 years) and was a Herk driver.  Where were we stationed together?

All the best,

Joe

My name is keith. I am building a 750 cruzer in kenai. I am seeing how many Alaskens would be interested in having a zenith builder/flyers get together. If your are interested I would like to get your input on time and location.
Thanks for your time.

Making Progress

Posted on September 24, 2021 at 1:12am 4 Comments

Got my fuel flow/air pocket problems resolved, got a replacement major overhauled O200A to replace the C90, finally got oil pressure on the O200A, and ready for the first start attempt.  Yesterday I had my fingers crossed as I tied down and chocked N345CC for its first start attempt.  I made a final check of all that spaghetti of wiring from the back of the instrument panel to and through all the necessary appliances that should make the prop turn and engine start.  All the "electrons" had…

"Minor" Delay

Posted on March 19, 2021 at 4:01pm 5 Comments

Well, I thought things were going too smoothly.  Two days ago I received the anxiously awaited prop spacer and when fitting to the prop flange, it would not allow all the bolts to thread easily into the flange.  A few of the bolts treaded easily through the spacer into the flange.  The next bolt started to bind after a few turns were made.…

Steel Bungee Modification

Posted on January 11, 2016 at 11:24pm 4 Comments

I just finished installing the Viking steel spring bungee mod in my CH750  Edition I  project which is nearly 80 percent completed.   Although it took me longer than I expected, I am happy with the modification and glad I took the time to add the mod.  Here is a rundown on my installation experience.

The engine was installed (C90) before the mod and the firewall well populated with components, nevertheless, the changeover was not difficult.  However, I did…
