Just thought I would post an update on the condition of the vinyl wrap that covers my entire 701, after five years.
In short, it still looks brand new! Everywhere I go people ask me what it cost for the paint job. They are shocked that my 701 is not painted! They walk up close and look at the rivets and tell me that I am pulling their leg! I can only convince them by showing them a seam.
About three years ago a tire went flat and, since the fuel tanks were full, the upper…

I flew my CAMit-powered (RIP) 601 to AirVenture 2016. This was its third trip to OSH. It’s just over 1,800 statute miles each way from Santa Rosa California.
I usually try to work some sightseeing into my trips. I love to fly in the mountains and along rivers. I have spent many hours doing so in the west. This year my idea was to follow the Missouri River…

In August 1986, in tiny Stanley, Nova Scotia, I bought a ride around the patch in a 2-place canoe with wings. For 30 years, I studied "Low & Slow" -- the laws, the flaws, the struggles to make it grow. I watched it blossom and evolve, and blossom again. And after I retired, I made a decision, 'pulled the trigger', and bought a kit. In August 2016, a Zenith CH-750 STOL kit arrived outside my single car garage in suburban New York. And now, the journey begins. :-)

My Zenith builder partner and I were looking for a cheap way to house our 750 and 650 aircrafts in a single hangar and save some expense, this is our solution built from a modified Harbor freight lift table. The 750 is lifted high enough to roll the 650 under the wing and then lowered again. The table is rated for 1000 lbs. and raises our planes 18" off the floor, we have…

Thinking of extending nose strut by about 2 inches for clearance in case of off road bungee failure. I've got large mains and standard nose wheel. Anyone else? Input appreciated. Cheers,,, Lynn

So while I await an answer from Zenith on my "elevator issue", I have moved on to other areas in the project. Can someone that has been before me help me with this. I am wiring the panel using the Composite Design Mini panel. Everything from the primary bus, and the avionics bus has been pretty simple. 18AWG does the trick for all these low draw items. I need help with the gauge wire needed for the other items. Master switch to battery relay, alternator switch to control, and back to the…

Milestone: 1st Viking 110 Startup at 9:45 AM, Saturday, July 30th ... Fixed plumbing problem then after about 5 or 6 sec. of cranking and one loud backfire, smooth and quiet purring ... Most impressed ... Ran about 20-30 sec. (without prop) with EIS values good and shutdown normally. I'll be mounting the WarpDrive prop wit pitch 12 deg. (?) later this week for a real startup.
