Gary,

I am building a Cruzer, and was told to talk to you about your experience with the Viking 130 and why you swapped to the UL Power? I have been banging my head on which to install in mine. The price of the Viking is very attractive, but if there is any reason I should stay away from it, I am all ears. Thanks

Thank you for the 360 video to Boulder.

I really enjoyed it since I have only flown on flat lands.

Hopefully that will change in the near future.

I am planning my first flight and 40 hrs more within the next days.

Gary,

Thanks for accepting my friend request. I wanted to share something with you regarding your Viking 130 engine failure. Be advised I am NOT an authority on Viking engines (will never do business with Jan) or fuel injection.

I recently read a comment about the Honda GFI (Gasoline Fuel Injection) system which said the Honda ECU is programmed to put the engine in an "ultra lean" mode (to improve fuel economy) under some operational conditions, specifically when the engine is in cruise  mode, and the result is the engine running hot ... not a problem in automotive use when the engine is only required to develop 25% or so of its capability while cruising. Since Jan has made such a point of  using the stock ECU I am wondering if there is something that might have caused the ECU to put your engine in a condition which was way too lean thus causing it to overheat.

Just a thought that may be totally irrevelant.

Best wishes in putting your plane back in order.

Way to go Gary! Good luck on your first flight. I was so nerves I had to chew gum the whole time, my mouth was so dry I couldn't talk. I can't believe we get to do this!!

Gary,

congratulations on completing your 750 Cruiser.  My son and I are building a 750 STOL and have the same doors as you, but have experienced numerous problems.   Perhaps when you have the time we can get some guidance that Zenith had not provided?
