I'm looking to stay in touch with builders who have Serial numbers 8500 and 8502 as I'm building 750-8501 are you building the sister plane to mine? If you are or know who is building these serial numbers could you let me know I would like to stay in touch with these individuals. Thanks Phil

I need to trim my canopy to fit a Zodiac XLB. Does anyone have any advice that they can share in respect to the best tool to cut the canopy and how to approach the job. Should I start trimming from the rear or front of the canopy and how do I determine my datum point on the canopy. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Fellow builders: do you have any photos/ suggestions on how to provide padding protection for the trailing edge of the glare shield on a CH701? The drawings refer to it as the front top skin, part # 7F14-4

The plans have no information to guide the installation of the optional fiberglass doors.
The builder resources on Zenith's website have an aged photo assembly guide that leaves out a key piece of info...The upper door sills must be trimmed 20 mm ( from 80 to 60mm in height). Otherwise the door hinges will not align with the door's upper flange, instead they will want to align on the plexiglass.
I confirmed my findings with another builder's experience here:…

Hi All,
Before I put the top skin on the rear fuselage I was wondering other things that would be easier doing now than later. Also contimplating placing a few extra L braces opposite of the others on the side walls.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Does any one out there have a used set of the Homebuilt DVDs they would like to sell for the CH750? Let us know! Thanks! Dave and Patsy

We are waitng for our CH750 kit to arrive and are planning to buy the videos as we go to help assist in the build. We already went to the rudder workshop in Cloverdale and came home with our rudder completed. It was fantastic! Thank you Doug and Lori! Our question is, which video should we buy first, and where do we begin in our build? We are wanting to buy the videos as we go rather than all at once. We are not sure which part we start on first. Any advice out there? Thanks! Dave…

Thought you might be interested in hearing about our great cross country adventure to Traverse City, MI this Fall. We planned an 8 hour drive up to meet our family on Friday, then return home on Monday. As the weekend drew closer, it became apparent that the weather was going to be severely clear throughout the whole weekend. On top of that the wind was solidly out of the South. This begged the question: To fly or not to fly? I spent the better part of about 2 seconds…

Passed my Final Inspection!!! Went very well just a couple of label snags. I had installed the "EXPERIMENTAL" Decals in my cockpit and that is a different class here in Canada, so I had to remove. Just have to wait on my papers from Transport Canada then off to my first flight. I have been training in Doug Pelton's plane and it has been great. His plane flies awesome. I will post my first flight in the next two weeks or sooner I hope......

First of all you may notice that we have skipped that past couple of Zenith Rudder Workshops while moving full speed ahead on the 3 projects that we had going here at once.
I am now feeling like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel to finish up my own plane. Although not complete yet, I thought it would be wise to begin checking with them concerning the registration and certification process.
Fortunately for me I had to be in Oklahoma City on business so I hand carried…

I have some parts for sale I am nor going to use. I am discounting everything 25% off the new price . A Zenair 801 cowl. A Lycoming O 360complete exhaust kit with muffler heat shroud. A carburetor filter heat box for a Lycoming O 360 and a Zenair 801 flap motor. All this stuff is listed on the airplane parts for sale tab on my website karlhippdesigns.com
The reason I am selling this stuff is that I am installing a different engine choice and I have installed manual flaps

Got my form blocks done for the tail section today. Now just waiting for my fluting pliers & bulk pack of rivets...should have most of my rudder parts formed (and maybe assembled) within a couple of weeks. Can't believe it took this long to get going! Got my rolled aluminum sheet, Cortec primer and hardware from Zenith just before Thanksgiving...got about 8 solid hours of work in this weekend.

Cut out the 8 flaperon brackets and 8 slat supports from 0.090". I don't have a bandsaw, but it's amazing what you can do with a table mounted circular saw, a belt sander and some patience...
Tried the new 5.5" solid rivet driver on the remaining spar rivets on the starboard spar. Found it tends to kick around more than the short heads, so even more care has to be taken.
